CA-GOV: Angelides Leads Arnold

According to a brand new Rasmussen poll, Phil Angelides leads Arnold 46-44. A different poll last week showed Arnold up 44-37, so I don't know which is more accurate.

I think this is a fairly encouraging poll given that Angelides has had a tough time getting press and Arnold has been in "please everyone" mode.

This is an extremely pleasant surprise. California's airwaves have been blanketed with Schwarzo ads quoting former Dem candidate Steve Westley as basically saying that Angelides was separated at birth from Fidel Castro. Meanwhile, Angelides has been largely AWOL. I feared a double digit lead for Herr Gropinator...maybe the electorate has finally tired of dilettante governance.

I think Angelides is going to do to Arnold what he did to Westly. Lay low until the last month or so and then go absolutely crazy. Angelides' come back against Westly was really impressive and I expect him to do replicate that strategy against Hitler...uh I mean Arnold.

I believe the prior poll was San Jose State U, or some other equally unimpressive and unknown group. But at this stage the numbers are pretty squishy. Must have Arnold sweating like he'd spent to much time in the sauna at Gold's gym.

Actually that poll is pretty well regarded in California. It is not quiet Field Poll standard, but it up there.
